UK Values, Vision and Mission

The Comenius University is the oldest and biggest university in Slovakia. It was established in June 1919. It owes its name to a philosopher called Jan Amos Comenius, who also was a theologian and a pedagogue.

The university has 13 different faculties and about 26,000 students. It is a university with many international students from different countries of the EU and outside of the EU. Many participate in the Erasmus program.

The university is an institution that promotes knowledge. This is secured by many professional experts, who are working at the university. The classes are based on the university’s own research so that students will be able to learn everything related to theory and practice. In addition, the Comenius University has many agreements and cooperations with different European educational institutions, so that students can work as doctors in other countries.

It is one of the goals of the university, to maintain and advance its identity as a research and educational establishment on highest international quality. Furthermore, the university wants to offer an outstanding educational surrounding and wants to encourage studies through a thorough spectrum of academic disciplines. Students will develop both in the personal and in the professional area.

The university is constantly evaluating the research and the teaching in order to secure that students are being guided by experts, researchers and lecturers.
